Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday hit out at the Samajwadi Party, alleging that those responsible for the riots and curfew in Kanpur were its candidates in the urban local body elections.
On the last day of campaigning for the second phase of the municipal elections, Adityanath addressed public meetings in Kanpur, Banda and Chitrakoot and appealed to the voters to make the BJP victorious so that funds can be allocated for development and welfare schemes by the central and state governments . is fully utilized.
At an election rally in Kanpur, the chief minister said the city was known as the country’s textile hub and largest industrial city, but its neglect by the previous government was “known to all”.
Referring to Kanpur’s ever booming illegal firearms industry, he said that ‘Katta’ (country made pistols) used to be manufactured in Kanpur under the SP regime, but now a new node of the Defense Corridor is being built here.
Adityanath said that Kanpur is establishing a new identity as the center of defense production of the country.
“Those who were responsible for the riots and curfew in Kanpur and played with the faith of the people in the past are the Samajwadi Party candidates today. The kind of comments he has made on women and the holy epic ‘Ramayana’ is not hidden from anyone.
“Urban local body elections are not just (a medium) to elect mayors, but also to make all BJP candidates victorious in all wards,” he said.
“This election is not about hatred and personal comments. This election is to make your city a smart city, a safe city and equipped with all basic amenities.”
Adityanath also mentioned the work done by his government to clean the river Ganga under the Namami Gange project.
“Mother Ganga is our faith and our identity. Due to the negligence of the previous governments, 140 million liters of sewage from the Sisamau drain was discharged into the mother Ganga. Work on the Namami Gange project started under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At that time there was a Samajwadi Party government in the state. SP did not do any work for two years. The double engine BJP government came to power in March 2017 and today not even a drop of water from the Sisamau drain falls into the Ganga.
The Chief Minister appealed to the voters to add a “third engine” to the “double engine government” and make Kanpur better again with basic amenities.
The term “double-engine” is often used by BJP leaders to refer to the party’s governance at the Center and in the state.
Addressing another rally in Banda, the Chief Minister said that the Bundelkhand region is going to become a heaven on earth by removing the problem of barren and rugged areas.
He said, “In the next four months, the work of providing pure tap water to every house in Bundelkhand is going to be completed.”
Adityanath said the entire Bundelkhand region was writing “a new chapter of development” today and recalled that for years the unveiling of the statue of Maharana Pratap, which he had done the last time he visited Banda, had been delayed.
He said that before 2017, Bundelkhand had to face many problems of drinking water, agriculture, employment and security.
He said that earlier women had to bring water in pitchers from far and wide, but today through the Har Ghar Nal Yojana, tap water is being supplied to every house in Bundelkhand and this exercise will be completed in the next four months. .
Addressing his last rally of the day in Chitrakoot, the CM said, “Chitrakoot has been freed from dacoit criminals and is being re-established as a holy place of Sanatan Hinduism.” Targeting the opposition parties, he said, “Dr. Lohia started Ramayana fairs, but the Samajwadi Party, which does politics in the name of Dr. Lohia, says that Ram did not exist. Its leader Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas Adityanath also said that the then Samajwadi Party government opened fire on devotees of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.
Adityanath was referring to police firing on ‘kar sevaks’ who had gathered in Ayodhya on the call of saffron organizations in 1990, when SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was UP chief minister.
