US man shoots 14-year-old girl while she was playing hide and seek, arrested

A 58-year-old man has been arrested for shooting at a group of teenagers playing hide and seek, one of whom was injured. according to a CNN The incident happened on Sunday in Louisiana near Texas. According to authorities, David V. Doyle fired at a group of teenagers who “were playing hide and seek in the area and were hiding on neighboring property”.

The man said he “saw shadows outside his house, at which point he went inside and retrieved his firearm. He then advised detectives that he went back outside and saw people running off his property, at which point He started shooting at them,” according to a release from Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office,

The department said the 14-year-old girl was shot in the back of the head and was taken to a hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

CNN affiliate KPLC reported that the area where the shooting took place is a dead-end road with only three residents: Mr. Doyle, the victim’s family and a relative of the victim’s family.

The man was charged with aggravated battery, four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm; and illegal discharge of a firearm.

The investigation is on. CPSO Detective Lauren Manuel is the lead investigator on the case.
