Visakhapatnam: Loco pilot, train guard to become green ambassador

Loco Pilots and Train Managers (Train Guards) will now contribute in promoting greenery by throwing seed balls at vacant places during the journey.

An initiative in this regard was initiated by Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECOR), in association with HPCL’s Visakh Refinery, as part of the Swachhta Mission.

Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anoop Satpathy and HPCL Visakh Refinery Executive Director V. Ratan Raj distributed seed balls to the loco pilots and train managers.

HPCL has prepared 3 lakh balls from seeds like almond, lemon, mango and orange. The compost in the balls will help the seeds grow.

Executive Director V Ratan Raj; The program was attended by K Nagesh, General Manager (HR), HPCL Visakh Refinery and M Kali Narasimham, PRO. Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer Sambid Mohapatra and Station Director Manbesh Mishra were also present.

The oath of ‘Cleanliness’ was administered to the Railway employees and Safai Karamcharis participating in the program by Shri Satpathy and Shri Ratan Raj in Hindi and Telugu respectively. More than 20,000 seed balls will be distributed among railway employees.
