A youth development center in the Kamaraj Corporation Higher Secondary School campus, aimed at helping youth in careers and preparing them for competitive examinations, is nearing completion.
The foundation stone of the center was laid on January 20, 2022 at a cost of Rs 6.29 crore under the Smart City Mission projects. The center being set up in 1,538 square metres, will help school and college students to choose various courses for higher studies and regular studies. Also, the digital library will help the youth to prepare for various competitive exams conducted by both the Central and State Governments. The center will also impart necessary technical skills to the students and make them job-ready. Apart from this, students will also be provided guidance in getting loans for higher studies.
An engineer of the corporation told that 95 per cent of the work has been completed and the remaining work will be completed in a month. The engineer told that the work of painting, decoration, electricity and plumbing is being done. “The center will help one lakh youth in the city and its surrounding areas to prepare for the exams and equip them with the necessary skills to get jobs,” Engineer said.
