AR Rahman re-shared an old clip of Sting where he sees Jose Feliciano giving a poor performance of his song Every Breath You Take.

Despite his generally mild-mannered demeanor, AR Rahman has never shied away from expressing his views on social media on issues that matter to him. In a previous interview with India Today, the maestro expressed strong opposition to the remix culture and termed it as “perverse and weird”. He noticed that the more he looked at it, the more it became distorted and lost sight of the composer’s original intent. He questioned the authority of those who claim to have “re-imagined” the work of other artists. Rahman further said that he has used the work of other artists but has taken care not to hurt anyone’s sentiments. He believed it was important to be respectful, and that gray areas needed to be clarified in this matter.

AR Rahman is currently enjoying the attention and recognition due to his work in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2. He has already won accolades for his work on Simbu’s Pathu Thala. Rahman is also involved in the production of two upcoming films, Sivakarthikeyan’s Aayalan and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Mamanan, which are in various stages of completion.
