Marathi filmmaker Bhaurao Nanasaheb Karhade, known for directing box-office hits like TDM, Baban, and Khwada, is back with another film titled Fakira. Bhaurao unveiled the poster of this film on Instagram on April 15, 2024, which shows a warrior riding on a horse with his face covered against the backdrop of a desert. The poster also shows a few weapons lying nearby and also the Union Jack flag, a symbol of the various British colonies across the world. Journalist Mandar Joshi has penned the screenplay and dialogues of the film. Fakira boasts of a stellar star cast starring Nana Patekar, Sayaji Shinde, Prasad Oak, and others.
Bhaurao’s fans showered the comment section with compliments and opined that they could expect another hit film from him after TDM, Baban and Khwada.
The anticipation for Fakira has increased as it is based on the Marathi novel Fakira by Anna Bhau Sathe. Anna Bhau Sathe is counted as one of the respected names in the field of Marathi literature. For those who have not read the novel, it portrays the miseries faced by society, the extreme oppression of British rule, and the fighter ‘Fakira’ who rebelled against everyone.
The TDM director is every bit excited about this film and talked about it in an interview with a portal. He said that if luck favours you, you can create a great piece of art. Bhaurao said that by sheer luck, he got the fortune of creating the masterpiece Fakira. He added that it takes a lot of courage to direct a film on subjects like these.
In the interview, other actors like Nagesh Bhosle were also present and he wished the makers for the commercial success of the film well. He also appreciated the filmmaker for proceeding ahead with a film based on such a subject. Actor Kamlesh Sawant was present as well and he expressed his happiness to be a part of a great project.
Fakira is reported to hit the cinema halls in 2025. Besides this film, Bhaurao will co-direct the project Hyderabad Custody along with the filmmaker Bhausaheb Shinde. Atisha Naik, Megha Dhade, and others have acted in this film.
