Fire breaks out at Delhi government hospital, no casualty reported

The fire broke out on the fifth floor of Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park area in the early hours of Saturday, officials said.

According to fire officials, a firefighter has suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The fire department received information about the fire at 12.16 am, after which eight fire tenders were sent to the spot.

Furniture, AC, ceiling in the meeting room on the fifth floor of the hospital caught fire, but no other casualty was reported, the flames were doused within an hour, a senior fire official said.

During the operation to douse the fire, firefighter Sumit sustained injury on his hand and was given first aid at the hospital, officials said.

In another incident, a fire broke out at a printing press shop in Lodhi Colony area around 7.40 am. The fire was doused by 10 am with the help of eight fire tenders, officials said.
