1 More Banker Held For Links With Cyber Cons; 11th Arrest In 2 Mths | Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: An employee of Yes Bank was arrested on Wednesday, making him the 11th banker to be taken into custody by the city police in the past two months for his alleged role in cyber fraud crimes.
Himanshu Gangwar (29) committed the crime in 2022 by opening a current account for cyber cons for parking defrauded money while working for ICICI Bank. According to cops, he worked in AU Small Finance Bank in Delhi too, police said.
“While working in ICICI Bank, Himanshu opened the account in the name of JCM Pvt Ltd in August 2022 and sold it to fraudsters who made a transaction of Rs 10,000,” ACP (cybercrime) Priyanshu Dewan said.
The matter came to light, when a cyber fraud victim lodged a complaint with the police on December 18, 2023, alleging he was cheated of Rs 6 lakh through a task-based con. “The complainant was asked to like videos and posts on social media, and was made to pay the money to get more tasks. The frauds offered him high returns,” the ACP said.
Police found out that Rs 3 lakh from the defrauded amount was transferred to an account at ICICI Bank’s Sushant Lok branch in the name of JCM Pvt Ltd. “We have questioned two people whose signatures were found on the forms for opening the account. They were unaware of signing any such documents. The address linked to the account is fake. We suspect the Aadhaar card linked to the account is also fake,” the ACP added.
The trail led police to Gangwar, who is from UP’s Bareilly. He was arrested on Tuesday. “Gangwar opened the ICICI bank account upon the instructions of absconding accused Kushal Marmat for parking Rs 10,000 and provided its access to him. We also came to know that he had opened another bank account on Kushal’s request for a similar purpose while working in AU Small Finance Bank,” Siddhant Jain, DCP (cybercrime), said.
