Infiltration in Machil sector

The first incident took place in Machil sector where two foreign terrorists were gunned down by their own troops, following which two AK-series rifles, grenades and ammunition bearing Pakistani markings were recovered. Another major encounter across the LoC took place in the Keran sector where five terrorists were killed. A Pakistani marked sniper rifle and five other rifles along with ammunition were also recovered from here.

We have recovered several surveillance equipment including night vision goggles and binoculars used at night, the official said. These could have helped the terrorists to easily pass through this area. The latest incident of infiltration took place on June 23 in Machil sector, sources said. It was thwarted. In this, four foreign terrorists were coming specifically to attack the preparations for the Amarnath Yatra in the Kashmir Valley. He was killed in the encounter. 12 foreign rifles were recovered from them.

55 kg of drugs also recovered
Along with weapons, 55 kg of A1 grade drugs were also recovered. It could have been sold in metros for at least Rs 5 crore per kg. The Pakistan Army and its intelligence agency ISI are pointing towards attempts to spread terrorism through drug smuggling.

Security agencies are trying to trace the links between the terrorists and their contacts in India from the articles and papers recovered from the terrorists. So that it could be known to whom they were trying to deliver drugs to India.

12 weapons found
The 12 weapons recovered also suggest that the additional weapons were to be given to other terrorists who may either be already in the Kashmir Valley or may be trying to come here in future. Army and security forces have made additional deployment of troops in suspected areas to counter any terrorist attack on the Amarnath Yatra as the Pakistan Army is desperate to divert attention from its internal politics.

The Army has also increased surveillance along the LOC using new high-tech surveillance equipment. This helps in easy analysis of any unusual activities on the Pakistan side.
