Unidentified assailants opened fire on Rawat, who is also a Congress leader, after he left the CDCCB branch in Mul on his scooter on the night of May 11. The incident was captured in the CCTV camera of the bank. S P Pardeshi had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and deployed 16 different teams to probe the case.
However, the failure of the police to nab the attackers even after 10 days drew criticism from Congress leaders. foster minister Sudhir Mungantiwar had also ordered the police to act expeditiously in the matter.
