2-day Event To Promote Kashi’s Handicrafts | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: The Indian Minorities Foundation (IMF) will host a two-day mega event ‘Dharohar Kashi Ki’ on Apr 13 and 14 to promote handicrafts and handloom of Varanasi.
A fashion show will also be held as a part of the event, in which Bollywood actors Kriti Sanon and Ranveer Singh will walk the ramp to promote Varanasi’s crafts.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Rajya Sabha member and IMF convenor Satnam Singh Sandhu said ambassadors of over 20 countries would visit Kashi Vishwanath Dham and the majestic riverfront through a boat expedition, and watch Ganga Aarti.He said a fashion show ‘Banarasi Saree -a tapestry of Indian culture and craftsmen’ curated by internationally renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra will be held at NaMo Ghat on Apr 14. Prominent fashion personalities will wear outfits, Banarasi silk saree to walk the ramp. During the fashion show, a cultural and musical performance will be staged by noted Bhojpuri singer and actor Ravi Kishan.
Sandhu further said the IMF would also honour prominent weavers, who have made splendid contributions to promotion and protection of the rich crafts of Kashi. Other prominent personalities participating in the event will include Padma awardees from the fields of art and craft, textile and handloom, he added.
