2 Killed in Firing by Security Forces in Manipur | Guwahati News – Times of India

Guwahati: Two persons of a 300-400-strong mob were killed in retaliatory firing by security forces in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Thursday night when they stormed the offices of the deputy commissioner and police superintendent, pelted them with stones and vandalised them before setting them on fire. At least 25 others were injured in the action by the forces to control the situation.
The mob attack around 8pm was triggered by the suspension of Siamlalpaul, head constable of Churachandpur police station, by the SP on Wednesday after a clip went viral showing him “making a video with armed miscreants” and “sitting together with village volunteers”.
Immediately after the SP’s order suspending the Manipur Police head constable went viral on social media, mobs took to the streets. Several public transport vehicles and those belonging to security forces were burned down.
