2 Quintals Of Ganja, Seized, Five Arrested | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: In a joint operation the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and the local police on Sunday seized two quintals of ganja worth Rs one crore in the international market and arrested five people. A tractor and a Bolero were also seized through which the ganja was being smuggled.
During interrogation, the smugglers told the police that after smuggling the ganja from Odisha they were going to supply it in the UP region.According to inspector in-charge of Anti-Narcotics Task Force Jhansi Chandan Pandey, the task force received information that a large consignment of ganja was going to be supplied after which a joint action was taken with the help of Kanpur’s Sajeti police team. About two quintals of Ganja were recovered in the joint operation. “The cost of the ganja in the international market is said to be around Rs one crore”, he further said.
During interrogation, a smuggler Awadhesh Kumar said that he had brought two quintals of ganja from Odisha which they had concealed inside the straw in the tractor trolley and kept it under the Bolero seat, the inspector said. tnn
