Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) separated three cows in his cattle pond Khaswadi After showing signs of lumpy skin disease (LSD). However, despite the infection not being confirmed, the cattle have started recovering.
There are about 600 cows in the animal shelters of VMC’s three places – Khaswadi. Lalbaug and Khatamba. Three suspected cases were reported from Khaswadi Animal Shelter where 82 cows are kept. These bovines are stray animals that have been confiscated by the VMC from the streets of the city.
VMC Market Inspector Dr. Vijay Panchali Who is also in-charge of animal shelters, said three cows at the Khaswadi facility had fever and LSD-like symptoms. “They were immediately isolated and we asked the district panchayat animal husbandry officers to come and examine them,” Panchal said.
Panchal said that about six days ago five cattle had fallen ill and had recovered. However, no tests were conducted to confirm whether the cattle were indeed suffering from LSD.
The VMC has three veterinarians who look after the cattle in three animal shelters. Apart from them, Panchal There is also a veterinarian. Panchal said that all the cattle kept in animal shelters are being screened twice a day to ensure that none of them are showing symptoms of the disease.
