3 from Kanpur drown in Saryu in Ayodhya | Kanpur News – Times of India

AYODHYA: Of six friends from Kanpur in Ayodhya to visit the Ram temple, three drowned in Saryu river on Sunday. Water police and locals puled them out of the river and rushed them to the hospital, but doctors decleared them brought dead. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident.
Kanpur residents Ravi Mishra (20), Priyanshu Singh (16) and Harshit Awasthi (18) and their three friends arrived at Ayodhya and before darshan of Ramlala, decided to take a holy dip in Saryu.When Priyanshu started drowning, Ravi tried to save him and was followed by Harshit, but all three youths slipped into deep water.
Hearing their screams, people rushed to rescued and pulled them out of, but their lives could not be saved, said Ayodhya SP Madhuvan Singh.
The official said instead of going to the bathing ghat, the youths went to the river bank adjacent to cremation ground near Ram Katha Park. The bodies of the three deceased were taken to the mortuary of Ayodhya govt hospital. Their families were informed and they would be reaching to claim the bodies.
