3 habitual thieves arrested; 7 cases solved | Mysore News – Times of India

Mysuru: Three known criminals are now nipping at the jail for burgling seven houses in a span of two weeks in May. Based on their modus operandi, the police caught the thieves and recovered valuables worth Rs 18 lakh.
The trio – Murgesh, Gopikrishna, Hassan, both residents of Channarayapatna, and Manju of Hunsur – were detained and arrested for breaking into houses in Hunsur, Periyapatna and KR Nagar in May. Police said they had targeted only locked houses and took away gold valuables and cash from the houses.
With the arrest, the police have solved seven cases and recovered 289 grams of gold worth Rs 2.5 lakh. Kilogram Silver worth Rs 18 lakh was seized from them.

Police Officer Seema Latkar He said that police teams have been formed to unearth back to back thefts. All burglaries had the same crime scene – doors were forced open using metal objects and the houses were then robbed. Gold, silver and cash were taken. We suspected the role of the three on the basis of modus operandi and we were able to crack the case, he said.
About 10 cases are pending against two of the accused and about six against one accused. One of the accused is 58 years old. The SP said the three had worked together when they were in judicial custody.
Additional Superintendent of Police BN Nandini said the trio only targeted houses of middle-class families. Before breaking into houses, they used to do rapid Reiki. Only locked houses were targeted and crimes were committed at night.
The police advised landlords and tenants to use the services provided by the police when locking and exiting homes.
If the jurisdictional police is informed by the people, the beat constables are assigned the responsibility of guarding the locked houses.
