5 booked for lynching 27-year-old man to death in Ludhiana village – Times of India

Ludhiana: Police on Saturday evening registered a case against five people for the murder of a 27-year-old man in a village in Ludhiana district of Punjab.
The accused have been identified as Ranjit Singh Gaggu, Gurtej Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Satnam Singh and Gurjit Singh, residents of Ber Kalan.
Complainant Ranjit Singh said, “At around 9.15 pm on Friday night, while Balkar Singh (27) Two persons attacked him while he was buying goods from a retail shop. The assailants, Gurmeet Singh and Ranjit Singh, thrashed Balkar and attacked him with sticks and iron rods respectively, causing injuries on his face.
The father of the deceased told the police that the accused hit him hard on the face, while others hit his son on the head and fled from the spot after beating him.
Due to late night, the father brought the son home and the son died on Saturday afternoon. After this the father informed the police about the matter.
On information, the police of Malaud police station reached the spot and started investigating the matter.
Police later booked the accused under IPC sections 302 (murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly).
DSP Payal Harsimrat Singh said that they are investigating the case and raids have been started to arrest the accused in the case.
He said that as per preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the deceased had enmity with the main accused Ranjit Singh Gaggu and was the complainant in the case registered against him under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means). ) of IPC two years ago.
