6.6 magnitude earthquake rocks Panama-Colombia border, no damage reported

by India Today World DeskAccording to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale struck the Darien Bay near the border of Panama and Colombia late on Wednesday.

The news agency Reuters quoted the USGS as saying that earthquake tremors were felt in both the countries.

A few minutes later, an aftershock of magnitude 4.9 was felt at the same location.

In Panama, civil protection agency Sinaproc said there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage and that the situation was being monitored.
