6 laborers working on Rail Power Project in Jharkhand died due to electrocution. Ranchi News – Times of India

Dhanbad: Six contract laborers died of electrocution on Monday morning while installing a truss pole to support the overhead railway power line near Nichitpur railway crossing on the Dhanbad-Gaya section of Dhanbad Railway Division. Due to the accident, five trains were stuck at the nearest railway stations for about one and a half hours.
Divisional Railway Manager (from DRMKK Sinha, who visited the spot along with other senior officers of the division, said that the poles are being installed by the contract laborers Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). On Monday morning at around 11.35 a pole of the truss slipped from his hand and touched a 25 KV live overhead wire. Six laborers holding the pole were burnt to death.
Sinha admitted that the incident was clearly a case of negligence on the part of the contractor and appropriate action would be taken against the firm that employed the workers. Sinha said the incident could have been avoided if the contractor had taken permission from the electricity block to install the poles.
the dead have been identified as Govind Singh, Shyamdev Singh, Suresh Mistry, Sanjay Bhuiyan, Sanjay Ram, and Damodar Ram. The DRM said that five of the dead are from Palamu and Latehar, while one is reportedly from Prayagraj, UP, while the other employees present there fled after the incident.
