A Jalandhar couple has been booked under section 188 of the IPC for brandishing a weapon.

An FIR has been lodged against a couple after the two were seen brandishing guns in a viral video. Identified as Roop Kaur and Sahaj Arora, the couple is famous for running Kulhad Pizza restaurant. However, later the couple released a video saying that they were holding a toy gun. As of now, they are out on bail and the police is still investigating further. “It is fake news that is being spread by the media that we promote gun culture. We do not support gun culture at all. Gun culture strictly prohibited,” read the caption.

According to multiple police sources, waving a toy gun is also considered a gesture of promoting gun culture and thus the couple was booked under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

ADCP Aditya said that a case has been registered against the couple under section 188 of the IPC, reports Tribune India. He further said that apart from the couple, an FIR has also been lodged against a youth of Dashmesh Avenue in Urban Estate for posing with a pistol in a Snapchat post.

Meanwhile, Customs officials said that earlier a married couple was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport for allegedly smuggling 45 handguns into the country. Arresting officers said a ballistics report would confirm whether the guns were genuine. “But in a preliminary report, the National Security Guard (NSG) has confirmed that the guns are fully functional,” said an official. The accused, who arrived here from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, was kept under observation by the authorities.

Further, examination of these two trolley bags carried by Passenger-1 (male passenger) resulted in recovery of 45 pieces of mixed brand having an estimated value of Rs.22.5 lakh.
