YouTube Music and YouTube Premium recently reached a ‘big milestone’ by crossing 100 million subscribers, including trials. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet and Google – which owns YouTube – thanked those 100 million subscribers.
The company attributed the milestone to the number of features, aimed at enhancing “the Premium playback experience”, rolled out last year.These features include the cross-platform viewing and an enhanced version of 1080p HD.

YouTube Premium subscription: YouTube highlighted that the value across YouTube AND YouTube Music, where users can access ad-free content, play videos in the background and/or download them.
“Plus, they get exclusive access to afterparties, where artists like Niall Horan and Jennifer Lopez engage with fans directly after their music video Premieres,” the company said.
Multiple forms of videos on YouTube Music: The YouTube Music app integrated music streaming with long-form video and short-form video. One can quickly switch to videos by using the toggle on the now playing screen.
Samples were launched to help users find new jams making rounds on social media by simply heading to the Samples tab and swiping vertically. Users can add the songs to playlists, share them with friends, or use the song to create a Short.
Radio Builder lets users create a radio station by picking artists and moods.
Generative AI playlist covers allow users to create unique cover art for playlists.
Comments in YouTube Music allow users to engage in the same conversations happening on YouTube, connecting them across the entire ecosystem.
Early access to AI innovations: Premium members also get an early look at some of the under-development features coming to YouTube. This includes a new conversational tool that uses AI to help viewers ask questions about the video they’re watching or request actions like “recommend related content”.
