77-year-old killed at Goa villa by a couple he invited | Goa News – Times of India

PANAJI: A 77-year-old businessman, originally from Punjab, found dead on Sunday at a Pilerne villa was murdered by a couple he had invited, police said. Nims Dhillon, alias Narottam Singh Dhillon, was killed at his Horizon Azura home. Maharashtra police later detained the couple at Vashi, near Mumbai.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Dhillon was smothered, Porvorim police said.
At around 10am on Sunday, an employee of Dhillon called Porvorim police and informed them that Dhillon was lying dead on his bed. Porvorim police conducted a detailed panchnama and the body was taken to GMC for the postmortem examination.
Porvorim PI Rahu Parab said Neetu Rahuja and Jitendra Sahu, residents of Madhya Pradesh, have been booked in connection with the murder.
“Prima facia, we found injuries on the body of the deceased and jewellery was missing. We have registered a case of murder and robbery,” SP of North Goa Nidhin Valsan said.
The investigation has revealed that the couple had come at around 11pm on Saturday to stay with Dhillon at his invitation. Dhillon owned a villa and rented four other villas in the same complex to tourists.
From the statements of some people on the scene, police learned that a gold chain was missing from the body of the victim.
Police soon identified the couple who were travelling in a rented car towards Mumbai. Though the vehicle’s number plate had been removed, police managed to trace the couple. Porvorim police told their Maharashtra counterparts to detain the accused.
The car was stopped in Vashi and the occupants were detained by the crime branch Unit I of Navi Mumbai police, Porvorim cops said.
“We told the crime branch team about the gold chain and it was recovered after interrogation,” Porvorim police said.
Dhillon had been living in Goa since 2016 and was in the hospitality business.
