8 Checkposts Set Up In Border Areas | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: With the model code of conduct coming into effect following the announcement of Lok Sabha polls, Chamarajanagar district administration, which shares border with Kerala and Tamil Nadu, has set up eight checkposts at the border areas.
It has intensified screening at all checkposts from Tuesday to prevent unauthorised movement of cash and liquor ahead of polling for the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency.
Of the 13 checkposts it has set up, eight are located at the interstate borders and five on inter-district borders.
The checkposts have been set up at interstate borders at Palar, Naalroad and Ardhanaripura in Hanur taluk, Bandi Gowdanahalli, Punajanur and Mudalahosahalli in Chamarajanagar taluk, Maddur in Gundlupet.
Inter-district checkposts have been set up near Sathegala handpost, Kaveripura, Tagarapura in Kollegal taluk, Ummatur in Chamarajanagar taluk and Hirkati checkpost at Gundlupet taluk.
The district administration has deployed its staff who work in three shifts at these checkposts for round the clock surveillance to ensure strict enforcement of code of conduct. It has deployed 27 personnel for each checkpost in which nine staff members worked in each shift.
As per the directions of the Election Commission, webcasting was made compulsory. CCTV cameras were also installed and all these checkposts have been provided with power, internet and other basic facilities like toilet, drinking water for the staff etc., said Chamarajanagar deputy commissioner Shilpa Nag.
