Producers Association President M Ranjith was called by AMMA President Mohanlal, who expressed his displeasure.

The AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes) general body meeting held on Sunday left several actors in the Malayalam film industry fuming as many did not attend the event. Organizers of the Annual General Meeting held at Gokulam Convention Center in Kochi said that despite the date of the meeting being announced much earlier, five Malayalam films were shot. Some artists could not attend the meeting due to shooting.

Over 80 actors from the industry were left with no option but to seek leave from the meeting as their producers did not let them go and their shooting schedules clashed with the meeting. Producers Association President M Ranjith was called by AMMA President Mohanlal and expressed his displeasure over the actors not being released for just one day.

Six new members joined AMMA during the general body meeting on Sunday.

Vijayan Karanthur, Binnu Pappu, Salim Bhava, Sanju Sivaram, Sreeja Ravi and Nikhila Vimal were the new inclusions. However, Srinath Bhasi’s membership application has been put on hold and NOCs (non-objection certificates) from other film organizations are awaited before he can be inducted. As part of the disciplinary action, some film organizations banned Bhasi. Actor Shane Nigam was also a part of the decision. The film house alleged that the behavior of both on the set was unprofessional.

A new digital ID card was also launched for all AMMA members which was handed over to Mammootty by President Mohanlal. 290 members attended the meeting that began at 11 am. Most of the participants were female members. General Secretary Iwala Babu presented the annual report and presented figures to Treasurer Siddhi. The next Annual General Body meeting is to be held on 30th June next year.
