Musk: Elon Musk: Twitter will soon allow video and audio calls – Times of India

New York: Twitter boss Elon Musk Told on Tuesday that audio and video calls are coming on the platform.
“Soon there will be voice and video chat from your handle on this platform.” Musk said in a tweet.
“So you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving out your phone number.”
In a subsequent comment on Twitter, Musk argued that the WhatsApp messaging service operated by Meta “cannot be trusted.”
A messaging feature on Twitter will compete with a number of free services including Messenger, Signal. Wire and WhatsApp.
Musk said Twitter would begin encrypting direct messages on the platform on Wednesday, scrutinizing the content to protect privacy.
Since buying Twitter for $44 billion late last year, Musk has implemented changes in seemingly impulsive ways, sometimes causing chaos for users.
The Twitter boss has publicly talked about building an all-purpose “X” application that combines messaging, payments and more.
Musk recently made the tech firm part of the “X” shell corporation to get rid of the Twitter company name, but continued to use it for the service.
