  3. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar have reached Delhi. He will meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other party leaders. There can be discussion regarding cabinet expansion in Karnataka.

1. PM Modi will keep Sengol in the new parliament, it was handed over to Nehru 15 minutes before independence

Home Minister Amit Shah told that PM Modi will inaugurate the new Parliament House on May 28 at 12 noon. He will also install Sengol, the symbol of transfer of power here. It will be placed next to the speaker’s chair. Presently it is in Prayagraj Museum.

On August 14, 1947, at 11:45 pm, the country’s first PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru took Sengol from the British. Then it was imported from Tamil Nadu. Sengol has been a tradition of the Chola Empire. Whenever someone became a king, he was given this scepter. Sengol means – full of wealth.

2. 19 opposition parties will not go to the inauguration of the new parliament, said- the soul of democracy has been absorbed
19 opposition parties, including the Congress, will not attend the inauguration ceremony of the new parliament. They demand that President Draupadi Murmu should inaugurate instead of PM Modi. They wrote in a joint statement, ‘When the very soul of democracy has been pulled from the Parliament, we do not see any value in the new building.’

These parties say that not being inaugurated by the President is an insult to the country’s highest constitutional post. The 19 opposition parties include Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Trinamool Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal-United (JDU), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), SP and Shiv Sena (UBT).

SP leader Azam Khan, MLA from UP’s Rampur assembly seat, has been acquitted in the hate speech case. On October 27, 2022, the lower court sentenced him to 3 years in the same case, after which Azam lost his assembly membership.

After this, the by-election was held on the seat, in which Akash Saxena, the BJP leader who filed the case against Azam, was elected as MLA. Azam’s legislature still will not be restored. Because on February 13, 2023, the Moradabad court sentenced Azam and his son Abdullah Khan to 2 years in a 15-year-old case.
