Vadodara: Residents of Sukhlipura village, about 12 km from Vadodara, had a worse night on Friday when they saw a huge crocodile crawling on the streets.
Amid the rains that lashed the area from late Friday night to early Saturday, the crocodile made its presence felt in a village in Vadodara taluka, which is located near Golden Chowkdi. National Highway.
Arvind Pawar, chairman of the Wildlife Rescue Trust, said, “We received a call at around 3 am from the local people about the presence of a huge crocodile in the Bharwad Vas area of ​​the village.”
Soon his three volunteers – Yuvraj Singh Rajput, Ashoka Vaghela and Hardik Pawar with forest department rescuers Nitin Patel And Lala Nizama reached the spot. “They spotted the crocodile near a resident’s house. It was 12 feet tall,” said Pawar.
Since it was raining and the crocodile was huge, the rescue efforts took more than half an hour. The crocodile was rescued and handed over to the forest department, which shifted it to a rescue center in Vadodara.
“It was the first time in this season that our area got good rains and it was also the first time that such a big crocodile was rescued in this season,” he said.
The crocodile is believed to have come to the village from a tributary of the Vishwamitri river, which is known for its healthy population of reptiles.
