Aam Aadmi Clinic: Opposition calls Mann Sarkar’s Delhi-like healthcare scheme unsuitable for Punjab

Even before its launch, the Punjab government’s flagship health program on the lines of Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics, accused the opposition of the Bhagwant Mann government trying to “fool people by changing the nameplates of existing government buildings”. ,

Mann government recently announced to set up ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ or Mohalla Clinics to provide healthcare in rural areas. The clinics will be launched on Independence Day and 75 clinics will be set up as part of the first phase.

But the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) government’s decision to convert convenience centers into mohalla clinics has been ridiculed by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

Former deputy CM and senior Akali leader Sukhbir Badal alleged that the AAP government was trying to fool people by converting 74 facilitation centers set up by his government into these clinics for the welfare of the public.

“At least 2,000 facilitation centers were set up to provide several essential services under one roof. They want to uproot those facilities in one go and replace them with a fake government scheme.

The Congress also criticized the Mann government for setting up Mohalla Clinics.

Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring questioned the logic and logic behind setting up of ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ in Punjab, which already has a strong and vibrant health system both nationally and internationally.

“There are already thousands of well equipped and well staffed government dispensaries across the state, which the AAP government wants to replace with clinics that have already failed in Delhi,” he said in a statement.

Waring took a jibe at the AAP government, saying, “If these clinics are exclusively for the treatment of Aam Aadmi Party workers suffering from diseases you can diagnose, then that is fine.” “But the common Punjabi doesn’t really need refurbished facility centers as their first aid centers when they have easy access to better facilities across the state.”

The PCC president alleged that the setting up of mohalla clinics appeared to be a “money-making scheme for the powers that be”. He mentioned the huge expenditure incurred in getting these already existing buildings painted in the name of AAP.

The AAP government has denied these allegations. Government sources said only defunct facility centers have been converted into clinics.
