Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dalveer Singh Tong has been arrested from Amritsar’s Baba Bakala in Jalandhar. Voting for the Lok Sabha by-election is taking place in Jalandhar today. Meanwhile, MLA Tong was roaming in Shahkot area.

According to the rules of the Election Commission, no outsider can roam in the Lok Sabha constituency till 40 hours before the end of polling. Despite this, he was roaming in Shahkot. That’s why Congress MLA from Shahkot Hardev Singh Ladi surrounded him.

Ladi called the police on the spot. Laddi alleged that the MLA was trying to influence voters by coming here with Tong supporters. Police reached the spot and took AAP MLA Tong into custody. After which he was taken to the police station.

Congress MLA Hardev Singh Ladi lodged a complaint with the police. He also sent a complaint about this to the Election Commission. After which a case was registered against the AAP MLA and he was arrested. However, he was later released on bail by the police.

Police making announcement
Apart from MLA Tong, many outside AAP workers have also been found sitting at the booths here. After receiving complaints about this, the police has started making announcements all over Jalandhar that they all should leave the area, otherwise legal action will be taken against them.
