Vadodara: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) got two days custody of the tax officer who was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in Godhra on Tuesday.
Pushpakkumar Panchal (44), who was posted in Godhra, had sought bribe from the dealer to process an online application to get a GST number. The trader did not want to pay the bribe and approached ACB.
ACB laid a trap and called the complainant to pay the bribe at the state tax office in Godhra on Monday. Panchal received the bribe on his table at the office in the presence of a witness who was accompanying the complainant. ACB sleuths caught him at this time and put him under arrest on Monday night. Panchal was presented in a court in Godhra for remand on Tuesday.
The court granted ACB a two-day remand to question the accused.
