Adah Sharma: After The Kerala Story, I realised how support from people can really change a film | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Adah Sharma will soon be seen in a short film Kofuku, co-starring Jatin Sarna. The duo extensively shot for this 17-minute-long film in Mussorie. Expressing why she jumped onboard for this project, the actress said, “A lot of the short films that I’ve seen are usually in a dark space or there’s a huge conflict or something. But with Kofuku, I was instantly interested because I thought it’s a slice of life story. It’s so interesting to have just two people who are from two different worlds and how eventually at the end of the day, all that we human beings are looking for is happiness. It’s just how we complicate things because we have so many desires and so many wants and because of how selfish we are and how self consumed we are. So I thought it’s a sweet simple film. I really enjoyed being part of it.”
The film’s name is inspired from a Japanese word, which means to happiness and fulfilment in life. Thankful for every opportunity coming her way, Adah shared, “All work is very big for me. Since I’m not from the industry, any work that’s given to me is very big and important. What I’ve done in a short film is also very important for a girl who’s not from the industry.”
While shooting for Kofuku, the team received a surprise visit from maverick filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj. He was stationed in Mussorie and visited the sets to give a clap and bless the team. “I think it’s really nice when someone supports another person’s work especially if it’s someone from the industry. It’s so nice that a renowned filmmaker shows support for someone else’s art. After doing The Kerala Story I realised how support from other people can really change a film. We had the audience supporting our film and everything works with word of mouth so when you have some person showing solidarity, it just spreads. I think that’s something we should all learn from him and always support others in our industry,” asserted Adah
This year, Adah featured in one of the biggest hits, The Kerala Story. The film earned her massive popularity and praise. When asked if she has been inundated with similar offers, the actress shared, “To be honest, no. After 1920, my debut film, it was a horror drama, so I kept getting offers of horror roles. I love the genre but I think at that time people thought that maybe that’s what I could do. But after The Kerala Story, there are a lot of other things that I’m doing, which are quite different. I’m very happy that filmmakers are seeing that I can do different roles. Like the next release that I’ll have will be drastically, exact opposite of what my character was in The Kerala Story. I think it’s really nice that filmmakers are seeing different ‘Adas’ in me and for now, it’s going really well.”
