The Kerala Story starring Adah Sharma grabbed headlines upon its release, mired in a web of controversies. Despite facing calls for a ban, protests and an ongoing uproar, the film managed to rake in a staggering Rs 200 crore within just 18 days of its release. Directed by Sudipto Sen, the film highlights the forced conversion and recruitment of Kerala women by the terrorist group Islamic State (IS).
Expressing her gratitude, Adah Sharma penned a long note and claimed that the film is the first female-led film to cross the Rs. 200 crores. On his Instagram, he wrote, “The best things in life are the unexpected – because there was no expectation. About ‘Kerala Story’
‘The Kerala Story’ features actress Adah Sharma as Fathima Ba, a Hindu Malayali nurse who is among the 32,000 women who went missing from Kerala and later joined ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria).
