Adah Sharma’s Bastar: The Naxal Story mints just Rs 2.05 crore over the weekend; lags way behind The Kerala Story, which minted Rs 241 crore | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

It is often seen that after a successful film, the team behind the film often comes together to replicate the success. And it seems that exactly was the plan for Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Adah Sharma and director Sudipto Sen, who earlier came together to make the controversial, but successful film The Kerala Story, and followed it up with Bastar: The Naxal Story. However, it seems the final verdict of both the films are on the extreme ends of the spectrum, as while The Kerala Story went on to make Rs 241 crore at the box office and had a Rs 35.43 crore weekend, Bastar is having a lukewarm response. The film which released on Friday, has minted just Rs 2.05 crore over the weekend.
Bastar, which is also led by Adah Sharma and has a supporting cast of Raima Sen, Shilpa Shukla and Yashpal Sharma, began its journey at the box office with Rs 40 lakhs and saw a jump on Saturday to mint Rs 75 lakhs, and on Sunday it collected Rs 90 lakhs as per industry tracker Sacnilk , taking the total collection of the film to Rs 2.05 crore. The film was carrying a lot of expectation, courtesy howThe Kerala Story had performed.
With The Kerala Story, the trailer was released just 11 days before the release of the film, but found a connection thanks to its controversial topic. The film was the biggest sleeper hit of 2023, it opened to Rs 8.03 collection on Friday, jumped to Rs 11 crore on Saturday, and on Sunday collected Rs 16.40 crore , thus taking the first weekend collection to Rs 35.43 crore.
Coming to Bastar, it would be interesting to see which way the film will go Monday onwards. The film is the latest addition to the list of nationalistic films which have been churned out in the last few years be it The Kashmir Files, The Kerala Story, Article 370 and many more.
