Adenovirus alert: West Bengal government forms 8-member task force to monitor cases

The West Bengal government constituted an eight-member task force headed by the chief secretary on March 12. adenovirus cases in the state.

The task force will monitor the cases of adenovirus as well as the treatment of affected persons in various hospitals in the state. In an official order from the chief secretary, the Bengal government said, “A task force is constituted with immediate effect to oversee the work related to the control of adenovirus and treatment of affected persons.”

The task force is headed by the Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal. The seven other members of the task force include Alapan Bandopadhyay, Chief Advisor, HCM; Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Principal Secretary of Women and Child Development Department, Director of Health Services in the State, Director of Medical Services in the State Dr. Sukumar Mukherjee and Dr. Gopal Krishna Dhali, said the order.

The order said, “The task force will meet at several intervals and monitor the arrangements for treatment of affected persons in various hospitals and other aspects related to the control of the disease.”
