Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah announced a ban on the screening of Hindi films in Nepal’s capital unless a part of the dialogue from Om Raut’s film “Adipurush”, which is an episode from the epic Ramayana, is removed. The Censor Board of Nepal also decided to withdraw the permission to Adipurush for the above reasons. In the Adipurush trailer, Sita is described as the daughter of India, whereas according to the Ramayana, Sita was born in Janakpur, Nepal and was married to Lord Rama. Now people are waiting whether necessary changes will be made in the film or not.

The film is all set to release in Nepal from Friday. However, the Film Censor Board of Nepal has said that it has allowed the release of the film only after cutting the part of the dialogue that describes Sita as the daughter of India.

Adipurush has been the subject of unpleasant debates ever since its teaser released last year. The filmmakers came under a lot of fire when the teaser did not live up to the expectations. It took everyone by surprise when the teaser revealed that the film was not a live-action adaptation of the Indian epic, rather it was a live-animation. The VFX work in the teaser was also criticized for its poor quality. The reactions were so extreme that the filmmakers were forced to postpone the release date from January and re-work on the film’s special effects.
