Om Raut’s magnum opus Adipurush is an adaptation of the mythological story of Ramayana.

Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush has created a wave of mixed reactions among movie buffs and critics. The film, which delves into the epic story of Ramayana, has faced criticism for its shoddy visual effects, dialogues and questionable portrayal of characters. However, despite the negativity, Adipurush has managed to collect over Rs 200 crore over the weekend. Prabhas who plays Raghav has finally talked about his character post its release.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the Baahubali actor revealed that there were definitely apprehensions, no doubts about saying yes to the role, “There were apprehensions, but no objections. Considering the emotional and spiritual attachment people have towards Lord Shri Ram, portraying such a revered personality comes with a great responsibility.”

In a separate interview with the same portal, Prabhas had expressed that the role demanded a certain level of responsibility from his end. He shared,

“The film revolves around the epic story of Ramayana, which is deeply rooted in Indian culture and religion. Hence, my approach was to portray this part with utmost authenticity and respect, as we all grew up listening to this story, and there are many emotional and spiritual aspects attached to it.

Directed by Om Raut, the film was released worldwide on 16 June. Prabhas is seen playing the role of Raghav in the film and his performance has been appreciated by the fans. But did you know that the actor was not quite ready to play the role on screen? Om Raut in a recent conversation talked about how he convinced Prabhas to take up the role.

Talking to India Today, the director of Adipurush said, “To be honest, it was not easy to convince him because I had a phone conversation with him during the pandemic when we were all stuck. The conversation went like this, ‘He asked me what is it that you want me to play? So I said, are you serious? I mean, I want you to play the role of Lord Shri Ram. I want you to play the role of Raghav. He said, sure? I said yes. Then he started thinking how will it happen? It was impossible for such a big star to narrate the film on a zoom call.

He further revealed that he found a pilot who was ready to fly him from Mumbai to Hyderabad and back on the same day. “I went to Hyderabad, and when I narrated the film to him, he immediately said yes. He was very upbeat and he was always someone who supported me and believed in the direction I wanted to go. He has always been there and by the grace of God, I think he will be there in future also.
