Adipurush writer Manoj Muntashir explains pedestrian dialogues for Lord Hanuman: I grew up watching Ramleelas | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Months after facing nationwide backlash and boycott calls, Adipurush dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir has finally realised what went wrong with the Om Raut directorial. He explained that they had good intentions while making the movie but there were big mistakes in their approach towards the subject.
He didn’t shy away from accepting his mistakes and told The Lallantop that when they were making Adipurush, their intentions were to connect youngsters and children to the Indian epic since they felt that the new generation seem disconnected.
They wanted to reach their target audience and make them understand that their leader is not only Captain America but can also be Lord Ram and Bajrangbali. “Our mistake might have been that we did not understand and we forgot the difference between simple and simplistic. We became very much simplistic,” he added.

‘Adipurush’ writer Manoj Muntashir regrets defending Prabhas’ film amid controversy: ‘Today I understand that mistake’

Talking about the dialogues ‘Kapda tere baap ka, Tel tere baap ka, Aag bhi tere baap ki, Toh jalegi bhi tere baap ki,’ which he had written for Lord Hanuman, Manoj said that they were looking at it through the lens of Ramleela and maybe this was a mistake.
He then explained that he grew up watching Ramleelas and Hanuman’s character was often portrayed as a comic relief. He said that he cannot claim that the film was made properly. He stressed that he did not make the film and the sooner people understand this the better.

Manoj also addressed his statement where he had mentioned that Hanuman is not a god but he has been given the divine status due to his unmatched devotion to Lord Ram. “That day I was defending the film and my intention was that our emotions behind making the film should reach the audience. My words were taken out of context and a 4-second clip was made viral,” he concluded.
In July, Manoj had extended his unconditional apology for hurting people’s emotions. The film, reportedly mounted on a budget of Rs 500 crore, earned Rs 340 crore in first three days but the box office collections went significantly down after the opening weekend. It has raised over Rs 450 crore.
