After being suspended for the rest of the monsoon session, Congress MP Manickam said, ‘100 things not allowed in the parl’

Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Monday hit out at the Center alleging that he has been suspended from Parliament proceedings for “raising the voice of the people in the Lower House”.

We will continue to fight for the people of the country. Hundred things are not allowed in the Parliament, only Modi ji is allowed to cheer….

It was Manickam along with 3 other Congress MPs namely TN Prathapan, Jothimani and Ramya Haridas were suspended from the Lok Sabha for the rest of the session for showing placards and disrupting the proceedings despite warnings from Speaker Om Birla.

The sixth day of the monsoon session was already delayed due to the swearing-in ceremony of India’s 15th and first tribal woman President Draupadi Murmu, with opposition MPs shouting slogans and displaying placards demanding a discussion on inflation, the GST rate. Look at the disruption. Rise and rise in LPG prices.

The action was taken after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla issued repeated warnings in the afternoon, asking the protesting MPs to continue their agitation after 3 pm and outside the House.

A Hinduton Times report claimed that the Lok Sabha Speaker held a meeting with all parties in which opposition MPs promised that they would not show placards and create ruckus. Despite assurances, when the rule was broken and the commotion continued, the speaker was forced to suspend the four MPs.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi then moved a motion to suspend the four MPs for the rest of the session. Joshi said these MPs had “absolutely disregarded” the authority of the Speaker and that “serious note of their misconduct” was taken by the House.

However, the suspension was not well received by the opposition, who described it as a “blot on democracy”. Speaking to reporters along with the four suspended MPs, Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi said, “The government is trying to intimidate us by suspending our MPs. What was his fault? They were trying to raise issues that matter to the people.” He said that the Congress party will not bow down like this. “The MPs were holding placards raising the issues of hike in the prices of gas cylinders, and imposition of GST on items like flour and buttermilk. We moved an adjournment motion seeking discussion on these issues, but no discussion took place.

Congress chief whip in Lok Sabha said Congress is demanding discussion on inflation, giving notice for adjournment motion, but the government has shown “absolute arrogance”. “Today when a tribal woman has taken oath as the President, a Dalit woman has been suspended from the Lok Sabha,” he said.
