After CM Champai Soren’s Call for Caste-based Census, BJP Terms State ‘Anti-OBC’ | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: Two days after CM Champai Soren issued instructions to start groundworks for caste-based census on the lines of a similar exercise in Bihar, BJP on Tuesday took potshots at the incumbent coalition govt by terming it ‘anti-backward’ and ‘anti-OBC’ while citing its failed promises since coming to power in 2019.
BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said, “We don’t call this coalition govt as thagbandan (fraud coalition) for no reasons. The govt, which sheds crocodile tears regarding the backward classes, has failed to walk the talk. The post of chairman of the state OBC Commission lay vacant for 14 months. In August 2023, the cabinet said the triple test would be conducted by the OBC Commission but in vain.”
In the absence of the triple test, the municipal and the panchayat body elections could not be held. “The state govt had filed an affidavit in the court that it would conduct the municipal polls by providing reservation to OBCs. But the state govt tried to hold the elections without OBC reservation and had to backtrack after getting contempt notice from the apex court,” he added.
Taking a dig at the coalition partners and their MLAs, he stated, “First, the govt and its the then chief minister (former chief minister Hemant Soren) was running from pillar to post. Now, the MLAs are in Delhi against their own govt.”
He also lashed out at the govt for its failure to spend the budget.
