Randeep Hooda has finally wrapped up the shooting of the biopic on Swatantra Veer Savarkar.

On the occasion of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s 140th birth anniversary, the teaser of Randeep Hooda starrer Swatantra Veer Savarkar was launched. The film is also the directorial debut of Randeep. Many fans of the talented actor have been waiting to see Randeep in this new avatar, looks like the wait will be over soon as the makers have finally wrapped up the shooting of the film.

On Thursday, Randeep Hooda took to his Twitter handle and posted a wrap montage of a few pictures celebrating with the cast and crew. In it, he is seen chanting ‘Vande Mataram’ as well as cutting a cake amidst thunderous applause with bandages on his knees. He also penned a note which read, “This is the end for #VeerSavarkar. I have died and come back for this film but that is a topic for another day. For now, a heartfelt thank you to my team, cast and crew, who made this possible by standing behind me day and night in every difficult situation. I can finally eat…”

The film’s producer Anand Pandit had earlier revealed that Randeep had lost 26 kg to play the role of Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The film is produced by Randeep along with Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan and Yogesh Rahar.

In a recent interview, producer Anand Pandit revealed that Randeep has lost not just 18 but 26 kilos for his role. Pandit noted that the actor was deeply devoted to portraying the character and remains so to this day. Randeep dedicated himself completely to present the character accurately on the screen and left no stone unturned. He followed a very strict diet and consumed only one date and a glass of milk a day for four months till the shooting was over. He even shaved his head to look authentic.

Presenting the teaser of his film, Randeep Hooda shared that as he learned more about Savarkar while working on the film, he grew in respect for him. Randeep Hooda is the director and co-writer of the film along with Utkarsh Naithani and it is slated to hit the theaters later this year.
