Ranchi: The state has witnessed rush for the precautionary dose by the beneficiaries above the age of 18 years from July 15 for 75 days for the category of beneficiaries of 18-59 years by the Union Health Ministry after the announcement of free precautionary dose from July 15. Meanwhile, the state crossed 1,000 fresh cases in the fourth wave as the fear of infection continues.
Records from the state health department show that over 35,000 beneficiaries in the 18-59 years category and over 8,000 in the above 60 years category have come to take the precautionary dose in the last three days.
Vaccination department officials said that they are seeing an increase in the number of people at the vaccination centers and will set up more booths in the districts if needed.
State epidemiologist Dr Praveen Karn said, “We have directed all district officials to ensure maximum coverage of booster doses and increase its number. covid Vaccination Centers (CVCs) as per requirement.
Ranchi District Immunization Officer Dr Shashi Bhushan Khalko “The average number of beneficiaries in the CVC has crossed 5,000 on a daily basis, while it was around 1,100 before the announcement. We vaccinated over 5,300 people on Monday alone. Officials confirmed that those who have not yet taken the second dose are coming forward to take stock of it.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 infections are also rising with each passing day as the number of active cases in Jharkhand crossed the 1,000-mark with 118 fresh infections reported till Tuesday morning.
According to the records of the state health department, the seven-day growth rate of Covid in the state has now reached 0.03% which is equal to the national growth rate.
Medical experts have appealed to everyone to take this as a warning sign.
A doctor from RIMS said, “Slowly but steadily, the number of Covid-19 cases in the state is increasing at a rapid pace. Now the time has come for the government and the public to take this spike seriously. Although the current fourth wave has not turned fatal yet, there should be high alert to stop this surge.
Ranchi has the highest number of active cases with 385, followed by East Singhbhum with 176. Deoghar, which is also hosting Shravani MelaThere are 123 active cases, followed Bokaro With 80 cases.
