Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi clocked 2 years on February 25th. Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie turned out to be a defining moment for the actress. To mark the anniversary, the film’s production house shared a heartfelt video montage featuring the best scenes from the film, celebrating its 2-year journey.
Sharing the video montage on Instagram, the production house wrote, “Rona uski kismat thi, muskurana uski fittrat. Heroine banne ayi thi, kambakkht pura ka pura cinema bann gayi. Celebrating 2 years of our Chand, Gangubai Kathiawadi .”

Gangubai Kathiawadi was a biographical crime drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and featuring Alia Bhatt in the titular role. Not only did the film receive critical acclaim from audiences and critics, but it also became the fifth highest-grossing film of 2022. The movie also starred Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Shantanu Maheshwari, Indira Tiwari, Varun Kapoor, Seema Pahwa, and Jim Sarbh in crucial roles.
The film also gave Alia her first National Award.
Meanwhile, after Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali will once again collaborate together in the upcoming film Love And War. The film will also star Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles. The film has been slated to release on Christmas 2025. With Love and War, Ranbir and Vicky are reuniting on the big screen after Sanju and Ranbir and Alia are being paired together after Brahmastra.
Apart from this, Alia Bhatt recently announced that she wrapped shooting her highly anticipated film Jigra with Vedang Raina. In Jigra, Alia is not just playing the lead but also producing it. Helmed by Vasan Bala, the film is all set to release on 27th September 2024.
