9to5Google has reported that the company is adding some new features and improvements to the subsystem. The new changes are part of the July Update available to Windows Insider users.
For the uninformed, Windows Subsystem for Android allows Windows 11 users to easily download, install and run Android apps on their Windows 11-powered laptops and PCs. It brings native Android app support to Windows devices. It is also important to note that Microsoft has partnered with amazon appstore To officially offer Android Apps. However, users also have the option of sideloading apps.
Windows Subsystem for Android Updates: What’s New
Coming back to the update, users who choose to install the latest firmware (Version 2205.40000.14.0) will get some networking-related improvements such as vpn And IPv6 support for the subsystem plus Android apps will now be able to access local network devices on ARM computers as well.
The Subsystem Settings app has now been updated to support enhanced networking, as part of which the IP address has been removed from the Developer section in the Settings app. This also means that the Windows subsystem for Android will now have the same IP address as the system.
In addition to network-related improvements, Microsoft has also added some video playback improvements. With the update, Android apps running on the Windows Subsystem for Android will be able to tell Windows to keep the screen awake while the video is playing.
Then a security feature has been added to the subsystem which now prevents users from taking screenshots for apps running in ‘Safe’ mode.
