Anti-NEET Bill: Center seeks clarification from Tamil Nadu Chennai News – Times of India

Chennai: The hub asked Tamil Nadu To clarify whether a bill seeking exemption from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical and dental admissions would stifle national unity and sovereignty, repeal the National Education Policy and various other laws, the Health Minister mother subramaniam said Wednesday.
The Center had conveyed the views of various ministries to Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, who sent the state bill for the assent of the President. On July 5, the Governor sent the question of the Center to the State Government.
“We have prepared a reply through our legal team, which will be sent in a day or two after the Chief Minister’s approval,” Subramaniam told reporters.
The letter asked TN to explain the power of the Legislative Assembly under which the law was passed and whether it contradicts the Indian Medicine Act, the Indian Medical Council Act and the Homeopathy Central Council Act.
It has also asked whether the proposed law will affect the ongoing standardized, level playing field and transparent national level admissions for medical examinations.
It has asked the state to clarify whether the bill would violate Article 14 of the Constitution, which promotes equality before the law.
MP in response to the question on Tuesday S VenkatesanMinister of State for Home Ajoy Mishra told Parliament that consultations on the Tamil Nadu Undergraduate Medical Degree Course Bill, 2021 were initiated with various ministries after the Governor of Tamil Nadu forwarded it for the assent of the President of India. He said that the queries of Health Ministry and AYUSH were sent to Tamil Nadu on June 21 and June 27 respectively.
Subramaniam said the state had received the letter from the governor earlier this month. “We are determined to conduct class 12 based examinations for medical and dental. Our answers to the Centre’s questions will reflect them,” he said.
