Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee Pannu to reunite at Melbourne 2022 Indian Film Festival

After going virtual for two years, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is all set to be held physically this year with a view to bring the vibrancy of Indian cinema to the big screen. Again, with films like IFFM adding to its diverse range of Indian films. Thriller IFFM will be the opening night film in 2022, for which both director Anurag Kashyap and actor Taapsee Pannu will travel to Melbourne.

Talking about it, Kashyap said, “We are excited to screen our film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and be selected as the opening night film. I have been to IFFM before and have seen the harmony with which Indian films and films from the subcontinent are celebrated and screened with great vigor. It is a special film again for me as a filmmaker and I look forward to releasing it on this platform.”

The opening film of our main event was Anurag Kashyap. is the psychological thriller Dobara.Being a fan of her work since The Silk Route, I always look forward to her films, and I had high hopes because of Taapsee too, as I admire her work equally. It gives me immense pride to showcase some of the finest talent of Indian cinema through Dobara at our film festival and I look forward to seeing the film being appreciated by audiences across the world upon its release.

Dobara is scheduled to release worldwide on August 19, 2022. The film marks Kashyap and Pannu’s third collaboration after Manmarziyaan (2018) and Saand Ki Aankh (2019), on which he played a producer. This reunites her with Thappad (2020) co-star Pavail Gulati. The film is jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Cult Movies, a new division under Balaji Telefilms, and Athena under the banner of Sunir Khetarpal and Gaurav Bose.

The thriller revolves around how a woman gets a chance to save the life of a 12-year-old boy who witnessed death during a thunderstorm that struck 25 years ago, currently on television during a similar storm. Joining through sets. It is the Hindi remake of the 2018 Spanish film Miraj.
