Apple will bring more devices to USB C in 2024

Apple launched the iPhone 15 series with USB-C charging and the company is ready to bring more devices to the charging standard next year.

Apple now offers USB-C charging for iPad and iPhone users along with the new AirPods Pro 2nd gen launched this month. But the company is ready to fully embrace the charging tech and bring more products like the premium AirPods Max and even the Magic Mouse with a USB C charging port.

As per the Bloomberg report, the company will have the new offerings launching sometime next year, and this month’s product lineup is merely holding up the space before the new-gen devices are announced.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg with his regular Apple updates has talked about the company bringing regular AirPods with USB-C and also refreshing the Magic accessories, which include the mouse and keyboard. All these devices could then be compatible with the new-gen iMac.

Apple’s USB-C strategy is varied based on which iPhone 15 series model you buy this year. The vanilla and Plus iPhone 15 supports USB C 2.0 standard, while the iPhone 15 Pros come with USB C 3.2 standard which is not only faster but also powerful enough to let you connect the iPhone to an external display and offer 4K screen resolution.

The company has also said that moving to USB-C on iPhone is not only going to be a standard upgrade but now you also get to use regular USB-C cables with Power Delivery (PD) to charge the iPhone 15 models or even quickly juice up the AirPods or Apple Watch.

The decision to relaunch the AirPods Pro 2nd gen with a USB C port makes business sense, but many people feel that the company should have also introduced a USB-C charging case so that you don’t need to pay Rs 24,900 for the full upgrade.

The iPhone 15 series does not get faster charging speeds because of adopting a USB-C port, but we’re hopeful that Apple will eventually offer more than 20W charging speed on its iPhones worth more than Rs 1.5 lakh these days.
