iPhone SE 4 could be like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 in terms of design.

iPhone SE 4 could be like the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 in terms of design.

For the first time in the lineup’s history, Apple may finally offer OLED panels with the next-generation iPhone SE 4. Here are all the details.

Apple’s iPhone SE models, ever since the first generation came out in 2015, have always featured LCD displays and a dated design language, but this could all be set to change soon with the next-generation iPhone SE 4.

According to a new report by The Elec, the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to use an OLED panel for the iPhone SE 4, and this panel could be the same one featured on the iPhone 13.

If this were to happen, Apple’s entire lineup would feature OLED panels for the first time ever, eliminating LCD.

The report further adds that manufacturers, including Samsung and BOE, are competing to offer Apple the new panels. This competition is where Apple might make its play, as it aims to negotiate prices. Samsung is said to be offering the cheapest panels at $30 per unit, compared to $35 by BOE, and Tianma at $40.

This could help Apple retain an affordable price tag with the iPhone SE 4. Partly because these costs are much cheaper than what the company pays for the iPhone 15 series and don’t require new research and development on the manufacturer’s end, as these panels are expected to be the same as the iPhone 13 panels.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be launched in 2025, giving Apple plenty of time to negotiate further.

Also, this report corroborates what analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said in the past. Kuo mentioned that the next-generation Apple iPhone SE could feature a design reminiscent of the iPhone 14, and these rumors certainly point in that direction, considering the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 have the same design language.
