Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies to release on Netflix next year
Archies’ casting director Nandini Srikkanth defended choosing star kids Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda and said that she did not get it in a plate.
One of the most awaited series that the audience has been waiting for is undoubtedly Zoya Akhtar’s adaptation of The Archies. What makes it so interesting is that barring Mihir Ahuja, new people have been roped in for the roles, and this will also be the debut of three star kids that people have been waiting to see on screen- Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter. Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda and Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor. However, many felt that the star kids got the role because of who their parents are and not with their talent. Now Archies’ casting director Nandini Srikanth has defended her choice.
Speaking to The Quint, Nandini said, “Whatever industry you look at, the next generation takes over. If someone fits the role, they deserve the opportunity as they fit the role. It’s not like we just went and cast someone because they’re a star kid. Each one, in particular, is super-perfect for the role he’s been cast in. ,
He also added, “We didn’t just say ‘Yeh rahe!’ with these roles in a thali for 3 star kids. A lot of people got tested for different roles and then it turned out to be perfect.”
Agastya has been cast in the role of Archie, while Suhana Khan will play the role of Veronica and Khushi Kapoor will play the role of Betty. The team has recently completed a schedule in Ooty. series will be released on Netflix in 2023.
