A total of 900 arms and 11,518 rounds of ammunition have been seized in Manipur so far.

The army’s search operation is going on in the hill and valley areas in connection with the violence in Manipur since May 3. In a joint combing operation on Wednesday, army personnel and police force recovered 29 weapons. The Spear Corps wing of the Army gave this information by tweeting. Most of the recovered weapons are automatic weapons. At the same time, some mortars, hand grenades and war items have also been recovered.

A day earlier, Manipur government’s Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh had said that a total of 57 arms, 318 ammunition and five bombs were recovered from Porompat in Imphal East and Sugnu in Kakching district during the last 24 hours. A total of 900 arms and 11,518 rounds of ammunition have been recovered so far.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to the people to surrender their arms in a press conference on 1 June. After this the miscreants surrendered 144 weapons and 11 magazines. In these, hi-tech rifles like SLR 29, Carbine, AK, INSAS rifle, INSAS LMG, M16 rifle and grenades were surrendered.

Manipur’s Security Advisor Kuldeep Singh had told that 102 arms and ammunition have been found in Imphal East. 35 weapons have been surrendered in Tengnoupal district, out of which 18 have happened only in More. 2 weapons have been surrendered from Imphal West, 5 weapons from Thoubal.

Curfew relaxed for 12 hours in valley districts and 10 hours in hilly districts
Presently, curfew has been relaxed for 12 hours in five valley districts of Manipur and 8 to 10 hours in hilly districts. There is no curfew in six other hill districts. Transportation of essential goods has started from NH-37. On Wednesday, 244 trucks left from Imphal to Jiribam. 212 loaded tankers and trucks had left from Jiribam. At the same time, a total of 212 loaded vehicles have left from Noni.

The situation is not completely normal even after the visit of the Home Minister.
Government sources say that even after the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the situation has not become completely normal. Some people have surrendered weapons. There is still a lot to happen.
