Indian Army troops fired after suspicious movement was noticed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Saturday evening, officials said.

He said the troops noticed suspicious movement in the Balakot sector and started “speculative firing”, adding that the firing lasted for a few minutes and there was no report of any casualty.

Officials said that the area would be searched with the first light of the day on Sunday.

He said that strict vigil is being maintained in the area to ensure that there is no attempt to infiltrate from across the border.
